These sites are connected by the route that anthracite coal once took from mine to market\; a route that played an imp ortant role in the American Industrial Revolution. Today\, the D&\;L Tr ail connects people to nature\, culture\, communities\, recreation and our industrial heritage.\n\nJoin us for the remaining 2016 Trail Tenders Seve n Saturdays Clean Ups:\n\nSeptember 17: D&\;L Walnutport &\; Slating ton Trailheads\, 9 am – Noon\n\nOcotber 15: D&\;L Parryville Trail Sp ur\, 9 am – Noon\n\nRSVP to Trail &\; Outreach Coordinator\, Lauren G olden: (610) 923 – 3548 x 227 or lauren@delawareandlehigh.org.\n\nThe Tr ail Tender’s Program is looking for volunteers that would like to work i ndividually in a region of their choice or cooperatively with other groups on larger projects. These projects range from litter clean up\, drainage repairs\, and amenities enhancements\, to brush removal\, native plantings \, and sign installation.\n\nSince the program’s inception\, more than 5 \,000 volunteer D&\;L Trail Tenders have spent 300\,000 hours maintaini ng and restoring the D&\;L Trail. Their work allows the public to catch a glimpse of the canal structures\, locks\, homes and industries that exi sted along the canal towpaths and railroad lines in the 1800s and early 19 00s. Without the Trail Tenders\, the Corridor and its heritage would be fa r less visible.\n\n \; ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://greenways.delawareandlehigh.org/wp-conte nt/uploads/sites/6/2016/09/DSC_0035.jpg CATEGORIES:Community / Heritage,Outdoor Recreation / Trails,Partner Events,Volunteers Needed LOCATION:D&\;L Trailhead: Slatington\, 91 Main Street\, Slatington\, PA\ , United States GEO:40.7527213;-75.6047279 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=91 Main Street\, Slatington \, PA\, United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=100;X-TITLE=D&L Trailhead: Slatington :geo:40.7527213,-75.6047279 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VTIMEZONE TZID:America/New_York X-LIC-LOCATION:America/New_York BEGIN:DAYLIGHT DTSTART:20160313T030000 TZOFFSETFROM:-0500 TZOFFSETTO:-0400 TZNAME:EDT END:DAYLIGHT END:VTIMEZONE END:VCALENDAR
