Are you interested in improving pasture conditions by increasi ng forage quality\, reducing weeds and maintaining a dense vegetative cove r? Are you interested in developing a sustainable manure management plan t hat benefits your farm and the environment? Are you aware all farms\, as o f Fall 2011\, regardless of size\, applying or producing manure\, are requ ired by law to have a written manure management plan?\n\nThe “Healthy Fa rms\, Healthy Animals\, Healthy Water: Planning for Sustainability” is a 2-day workshop (Saturday February 4th AND Saturday February 18th\, 8:30a m - 4:00pm both days) designed to help managers of equine and other livest ock operations understand how the new manure management regulations affect their farm operations. The workshop will cover sessions about why Erosion and Sediment (E&\;S) Regulations have been established and what kind o f plan is required for each operation. Sessions on pasture health\, and pr oper procedures for manure spreading and storage will also be addressed. T wo instructional classes regarding the drawing of maps for an individual f arms’ plan and the completion of the manure management plan are also inc luded in the course. Upon completion of the workshop\, participants will h ave a manure management plan for their farm that is fully compliant with P A state regulations. Participants in the workshop will also receive lunche s and snacks for both sessions\, a copy of “Weeds of the Northeast”\, a soil testing kit\, and a grazing stick\, all free of charge.
