DESCRIPTION:Wildlands Conservancy - Get Out! for Wellness: Paradise-Price P
 reserve to the Waterfall\n\nParadise Price Preserve is 777 acres and prote
 cts a portion of Brodhead Creek\, one of the best-loved trout streams in t
 he world and birthplace of fly fishing in America.\n\nThis 5-mile hike is 
 considered moderately difficult. Some trails are wide\, grassy and level\;
  others are steep and rocky. Yellow blazes mark part of the way\, with an 
 elevation change of about 300 feet. The trail begins by following an old f
 ire road for the railroad\, leading through cool glens of mossy stones\, w
 here small streams flow from wetlands on the ridge above to Cranberry Cree
 k below. Climbing up and along the flat ridgetop\, the trail is wide\, gra
 ssy and well-marked with yellow blazes. Here\, the woods are open. Maples\
 , oaks\, shagbark hickory and other hardwoods shade hay-scented fern\, low
 -bush blueberries and sweet fern as far as the eye can see. I’ve noticed
  some bear scat\, turkey feathers and a couple of deer stands\, and flushe
 d a grouse. Abundant food\, cover and nesting sites make this prime habita
 t for many birds and other critters. More large wetlands gleam as the trai
 l leads through waist-high ostrich fern and bracken. Big glacial boulders 
 layered with lichen are new landmarks for me as the trail heads down a lon
 g slope on the northeastern side of the ridge. It’s rockier now\, and th
 e newness of the trail shows in the weed-whacked stubble underfoot. The lo
 w horseshoe waterfall tumbles over ledges of bedrock to a wide pool\, wher
 e beavers have taken up residence.\n\nLeashed dogs permitted. No sanitary 
 facilities- pack in\, pack out. Wear sturdy boots and tick repellent.\n\nP
