 reserve Border Trail\, Central Range\nDecember 30\, 2023 | 10am - 12pm\n\n
 This 2.7-mile hike led by Wildlands Conservancy is an out-and-back hike wi
 th lots of variety. We’re going south up an old farm road to wide\, expa
 nsive views of TNP and beyond. From the heights and open views\, we’ll d
 ip down to the Jordan Creek and stroll on the level Covered Bridge Trail t
 o the newly re-furbished Geiger’s Bridge. Then we’ll re-trace our step
 s.\n\nThe 1\,108-acre Trexler Nature Preserve\, home of the Lehigh Valley 
 Zoo\, was owned by General Harry Clay Trexler\, a successful lumber mercha
 nt and a founder of Lehigh Portland Cement Company. Trexler created the pr
 eserve to protect bison\, elk\, and white-tail deer.\n\nThis walk is appro
 priate for all ages\, but not for strollers or wheelchairs. There is one l
 ong\, steep uphill near a bird blind (these hills just can’t be avoided 
 at TNP!). Comfortable footwear is recommended. Bring hiking poles. Wildlan
 ds will have poles available too. Dogs on leash are welcome. Bring binocul
 ars and/or camera to observe the elk from the road if you choose to drive 
 into the park afterwards. There are many other trails (about 20 miles!) to
  explore while you are here. No bathrooms available on our route. However\
 , bathrooms are available at the back of the Trexler Environmental Ed Buil
 ding on Orchard Road.\n\nDIRECTIONS: Key in the term: “Trexler Border Tr
 ail Parking” or “Parking Trexler Border Trail.” Take Route 309 North
  to Schnecksville and turn left at the sign for the Game Preserve. Follow 
 Game Preserve Road for 2.1 miles to the entrance to the Zoo on your left. 
 Turn left here but go just 486 feet and turn left again into the Trexler B
 order Trail parking lot.\n\nGet Out! for Wellness is gratefully funded by
