About: LV Greenways Conservation Landscape offers funding though a reimbursement grant program to support projects aimed at advancing the following goals:
- Goal 1: Land Conservation and Restoration – Conserve critical landscapes, restore buffered stream corridors, and promote best management practices.
- Goal 2: Outdoor Recreation and Trail Connections – Connect people to greenway and trail opportunities to promote healthy living, recreation and the region’s green assets.
- Goal 3: Community Revitalization – Support community revitalization though green infrastructure that enhances the quality of life.
- Goal 4: Local Education and Outreach – Promote understanding of our natural environment and its benefits to our communities.
The LV Greenways Conservation Landscape Mini Grant Program is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and administered by the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC).
2025 LV Greenways Mini Grant Timeline
- February 4, 2025: LV Greenways Mini Grant Application Round Opens at 12pm
- February 13, 2025: LV Greenways Mini Grant Pre-Application Meeting held in-person at Lehigh Gap Nature Center from 9:30am-11am. Hot beverages provided. Address: 8844 Paint Mill Rd, Slatington, PA 18080.
***All potential applicants must attend the pre-application or schedule a separate meeting with Brit Kondravy to discuss your projects. Sending a representative to the pre-application meeting is strongly preferred so you are present for the presentation and can learn from the questions of other applicants or be guided as to how or where to best apply.
- March 13, 2025: LV Greenways Mini Grant Application Round Closes at 4pm.
- April 8, 2025: Projects are reviewed and selected by committee.
- May 2025: Mini grant awards are announced, and grant agreements are emailed.
- June 1, 2025: Project start date * only if agreements are signed and returned/submitted to DLNHC.
- November 30, 2026: Project completion and closeout.
Parking at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center
On the eastern end (Slatington side) of property, parking is available near the Osprey House.
Parking is available at the western end (Bowmanstown/East Penn side) of the refuge at the junction of Riverview Road and the D&L Trail. There is a sign posted in this area reading “Lehigh Gap Wildlife Refuge: A Community Resource.” Parking is also available at our arboretum and the western end of the LNE Trail. To reach this area, continue on Riverview Road to Sunset Road. At the stop sign make a left turn and then a quick right turn and make a left to enter the arboretum or drive up the hill to the LNE Trail. The parking area is to the right. There is a gate across the LNE Trail at this point, again to deter unauthorized vehicles on this trail.
