Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! for Wellness: Bear Swamp Boardwalk and Minsi Lake

Event Description: We’ll walk the archery complex first (1 mile). This level trail has some rocks and roots (and can be wet) as it meanders through a pleasant forest in Upper Mount Bethel Township. Then we’ll cross Lake Minsi Drive to the long-range archery fields and the Boardwalk around Bear Swamp (1 mile). This is a good place to view turtles, frogs, tadpoles and spring flowers. We’ll stop at the “nature center,” a 3-sided pavilion. After we return to our cars, we’ll drive a quarter-mile east to Minsi Lake’s western parking lot. It’s a good place to see swallows, great blue herons, and butterflies. For our third hike (1 mile), we’ll walk on the dam breast to the spillway and then retrace our steps to the parking lot.

Dogs on leash are welcome. Wear sturdy footwear that can get wet. Several areas of these trails can be mushy depending on recent rain fall. Bring binoculars to spy on spring birds. Bring bug repellent, a sun hat and sunscreen. Portable bathrooms are at Lake Minsi.

This walk is free and is part of the Get Out! For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online at: https://www.wildlandspa.org/events/.
